Bodegas Faelo have been producing limited edition wines on their vineyards in the countryside just south of Alicante for four generations. Maintaining respect for traditions and the environment, the artisan collection and processing of the grapes every September is still done by hand (and foot!).
On a guided visit, Jaime Soto, the owner, explains the how, why, what and when of his family’s wines and their production over the past 100 years – from making the neighbours happy to the award winning DO Alicante reds, whites and roses of today. He’s a mine of information with some great stories about weeds, and rose bushes, and why he carries a lunar almanac!
The visit finishes, of course, with a tasting of Faelo’s four principal wines – a Cabernet/Monastrell, a Syrah, a Chardonnay and a Moscatel – accompanied by a light picnic of the speciality meats, cheese, pastries and dessert of the region. It’s a great way to spend a few hours out in the countryside seeing a little more of the real Alicante’s past and present, far from the crowds.
We can organise exclusive small group visits throughout the year, including transport, if necessary.
The Price is 15 € per person.
The duration of this visit is two hours approximately.
