If no one has told you before, shopping in Alicante is paradise. Late opening shops, light summer evenings, really good prices (in Euros!) and great quality stuff make it a real top ten experience.
If you start after lunch, you can kill two birds with one stone, as restaurants will be opening as the shops are closing.
Maisonnave, Luceros and Oscar Espla are in the new commercial district, where all the big name shops are, including El Corte Ingles, the largest department store in Spain. Castaños, Gerona, and La Plaza Nueva are full of little individually run jewelery and clothes shops. San Francisco also has a few recently opened stylish vintage shops and is full of cafés to have a break and enjoy the sunshine.
If you are looking for bargains, try Elche, 20km from Alicante, and its retail outlet park, an absolute must.
If that isn’t enough, at the end of a pleasant wander along the seafront esplanade of Postiguet beach you can also find the AlCampo shopping centre, the newest and biggest that Alicante has to offer.
I highly recommend leather winter coats, shoes of all kinds, jewelery and cool fashion at great prices, and if you cant find what you are after, just ask me. I know where you can get it!
